The thermal waters of Salsomaggiore Terme and Tabiano have a history of hundreds of years and are famous throughout the world for the high percentage of mineral salts and sulfate, which ensure beneficial effects to the body. The thermal waters of Salsomaggiore Terme were used by the Celts and the Romans, but it is Lorenzo Berzieri who discovered its healing properties in 1839. Tabiano water, previously used by the inhabitants to treat themselves, the animals and the soldiers passing through, it became famous in the 19th century thanks to Maria Luigia of Austria, who inaugurated a real spa in the small town.
